Friday MAY 8TH-AMA Pro Racing joins the motorcycle racing community in mourning the passing of Mike Kidd, the 1981 AMA Grand National Champion, AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer, race promoter, series builder, and former AMA Pro Racing executive. Kidd was 72.

 

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Kidd authored one of the most respected careers in American motorcycle racing, first as a rider who overcame repeated adversity to reach the sport’s highest level, and later as a promoter and executive who helped shape the future of flat track and indoor motorcycle racing.

 

Kidd turned professional in 1972 and quickly established himself among the elite riders of the Grand National era. His first AMA Grand National victory came at the 1974 Charity Newsies Half Mile in Columbus, Ohio, and he went on to collect 12 AMA national wins during his professional racing career.

Friday MAY 8TH-The 2026 Intercontinental GT Challenge ramps up a notch next weekend at the ADAC Ravenol 24h Nürburgring where 26 of the 41 SP9 (GT3) entries are eligible to score IGTC points.

SRO’s globe-trotting GT3 series makes its third appearance at the Nordschleife after first visiting in 2024. This season’s edition follows Mercedes-AMG’s victory at the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour in February, and also represents the first of two twice-around-the-clock GT3 races in a little over one month. The CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa follows at the end of June.

Friday MAY 8TH-Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas), Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.), and Ligier Junior Formula Championship (Ligier JFC) will be featured in the new episodic docuseries “Road to Glory: Formula Edition.” The series will follow the drivers and teams that comprise the Racing America Formula Ladder, while sharing behind-the-scenes moments and telling stories both at and away from the racetrack. “Road to Glory: Formula Edition” will debut on Monday, May 11 at 8 p.m. ET, airing on Racing America’s 24/7 Channel, as well as RacingAmerica.TV and the @RacingAmericaTV YouTube channel. 


Austin Dillon visits Fort Bragg with fueler Tyler Rader, a homecoming for the Army veteran

Friday MAY 8TH-Austin Dillon saw a whole new side of Tyler Rader, his friend and Richard Childress Racing pit-crew member, Thursday at Fort Bragg.

 Dillon and Rader visited the Eastern North Carolina base for a hands-on experience with the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, part of the Mission 600 leading into the annual Coca-Cola 600 on May 24 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (6 p.m. ET on Prime Video, HBO Max, PRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).


NASCAR Cup race caps long weekend at the Glen for road course stars

 

Thursday MAY 7TH-For the first time this season, road course ace Shane van Gisbergen will have a chance to defend one of his NASCAR Cup Series victories from last year.

 Because of a shakeup in the schedule, however, that first defense will come at Watkins Glen International, whose May date for Sunday’s Go Bowling at the Glen (3 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) is the earliest ever for the 2.45-mile circuit.

 Van Gisbergen won the last five road course races of 2026, but because of schedule changes, he’ll have the chance to defend victories at only two of the venues—Watkins Glen and Sonoma Raceway.


Great Lakes Super Sprints Open Hartford Speedway Friday Night


 Thursday MAY 7TH-The Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP will help kick the gates open at Michigan’s Hartford Speedway this Friday night. One of the most technically challenging tracks on the circuit, Hartford Speedway offers teams an early-season opportunity to set themselves apart from the rest of the pack. Likewise, the tough-to-navigate third turn could also be an early-season troublemaker.


Hartford Speedway has long been a staple on the GLSS schedule, going back to the inaugural season in 2016. Dustin Daggett grabbed the win and the fast qualifier honors that season during the lone race held in July. Friday will mark the 19th different race held at Hartford. In that time, 10 different drivers have gone to victory lane.


Christopher Bell Embraces New Challenge with Super DIRTcar Series Debut

Thursday MAY 7TH-For years, NASCAR Cup Series star Christopher Bell has wanted the chance to drive a Big Block Modified.

He’ll get that opportunity when the Super DIRTcar Series heads to Georgetown Speedway on Wednesday, May 13, as part of the Delaware Diamond Clash.


Austyn Gossel Inching Closer Toward First Career American Sprint Car Series Triumph

Thursday MAY 7TH- Austyn Gossel is confident that his first triumph with the American Sprint Car Series is near. 

In his third full-time season with the Series, the Fort Collins, CO native is looking to prove his capability of winning on the tour while continuing to grow the chemistry of the team he has around the No. 16G machine. 

He’ll continue the milestone quest at Benton Speedway on Friday night. Through his only two appearances at the track with ASCS, Gossel finished 10th in 2024, then earned his career-high at the “Show Me State” 3/8-mile with a fifth-place result in the 2025 showcase.

Thursday MAY 7TH-AMA Pro Racing joins the entire flat track community in remembering Mert Lawwill, one of the most influential and respected figures in the history of the AMA Grand National Championship.

 

Lawwill, the 1969 AMA Grand National Champion and a 1998 inductee into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, was among the defining riders of American professional motorcycle racing’s golden era. A factory Harley-Davidson rider for the majority of his career, Lawwill combined rare mechanical understanding with a smooth, determined riding style that made him one of the sport’s most admired competitors.

AFS Badger Midget Series and MARA Set For Davenport Speedway Friday

Wednesday May 6th-The Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midget Auto Racing Association opens the 2026 season this Friday, May 8, at Davenport Speedway. It's Badger's first trip to the Hawkeye state since 2022 when they raced at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway. In 2021 the club was slated to run Davenport, but the event was rained out.


Wednesday May 6th-There are moments in history where those involved know they are witnessing something significant. More often than not, however, the full importance of those events only becomes clear in time.

The latter best describes the inaugural FIA GT3 European Championship meeting at Silverstone on 6/7 May 2006. To most observers it seemed like the launch of yet another GT category. Few if any knew they were on the ground for the birth of a global racing phenomenon.

Wednesday May 6th-The World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision is making a stop in the heart of Sprint Car country next week, and one of open-wheel racing’s bright young stars is set to join in on the action.

Non-Wing Sprint Car ace Briggs Danner will make his fendered World of Outlaws debut on Thursday, May 14, at Selinsgrove Speedway in the Lazer Chassis Racing No. 31. Sonsio Grand Prix Fast Facts

Tuesday May 5th-Four drivers have competed in every INDYCAR SERIES race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course – Scott Dixon, Josef Newgarden, Will Power and Graham Rahal. All are entered this weekend.

Team Penske has eight wins on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020-Race 2, 2020-Race 3, 2021-Race 2). Chip Ganassi has five wins - with Scott Dixon in 2020-Race 1 and 2023-Race 2 and Alex Palou in 2023-Race 1, 2024 and 2025. Andretti Global and ECR are the only other teams to win at the track. Andretti Global won the Sonsio Grand Prix with Colton Herta in May 2022 and Gallagher Grand Prix with Alexander Rossi in August 2022, while ECR won in 2021-Race 1 with Rinus VeeKay.

Tuesday May 5th- An unusual start to a new season of USF Pro Championships Presented by Continental Tire will regain a sense of normalcy this week as both USF Pro 2000 and USF2000 return to action on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Grand Prix road course. After commencing their campaigns independently for the first time since 2013, the two top rungs on the acclaimed open-wheel ladder system will share the same bill – alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT – on May 7-9 at the 2.439-mile 14-turn former home of the United States Formula 1 Grand Prix.

 

The Tatuus Grand Prix of Indianapolis will comprise two races for the senior level, USF Pro 2000, and a tripleheader for USF2000.

Tuesday May 5th-The American Sprint Car Series is set to open the May slate with a return to the Midwest. 

The country’s top 360 Sprint Car drivers begin the two-day trek with a stop at Missouri’s Benton Speedway on Friday, May 8. Then, the Series crosses the Kentucky state line to visit Paducah International Raceway for the Mother’s Day Salute on Saturday, May 9. Both Feature races will offer a $4,000 winner’s share. 


IMSA Airbnb Endurance Challenge Heads to Austin

Tuesday May 5th-For IMSA Airbnb Endurance Challenge Le Mans Prototype 3 (P3) competitors, both the Circuit of The Americas racetrack in Austin, Texas and the race length will be bigger than the last time they were there at the end of February. 

 

As part of the full IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge season, LMP3 ran alongside Grand Sport X (GSX) competitors at COTA during the series’ most recent sprint weekend featuring two 45-minute races. That took place at the COTA National Course, a 2.4-mile, 20-turn circuit with a cut-through near the end of the Esses and going onto the backstraight.

Monday May 4th-The next chapter of Sprint Car racing’s fiercest rivalry is ready to be written.

Chase Elliott makes early statement with NASCAR Cup win at Texas

 Monday May 4th-t’s time to take Chase Elliott seriously.

 Though that assertion runs the risk of stating the obvious, it bears remembering that Elliott hasn’t exactly been front of mind when it comes to the last three NASCAR Cup Series championships.

 In the three years after his five-win season in 2022, Elliott failed to qualify for the Championship 4 Race. In 2023, he raced only 29 times and won no races, thanks to a snowboarding injury and a one-race suspension for rough driving.

Alex Zanardi passes away at the age Of 59

Former Formula One driver Alex Zanardi, who lost both legs in a racing crash and went on to win Paralympic gold medals, has died at the age of 59, his family said on Saturday, May 2.

Friday mAY 1ST-  Skylar Gee has joined forces with Greg Wheeler Motorsports for the remainder of the 2026 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season.

The move comes after Wheeler and Scotty Thiel parted ways following the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash at Knoxville Raceway. Thiel’s best run aboard Wheeler’s No. 16C through 16 races this year was 11th at Volusia Speedway Park in March.


Saturated Grounds and Cold Temperatures Force Cancellation of Great Lakes Sprints Event at Montpelier


 

 Friday mAY 1ST- Officials with Montpelier Speedway and the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT and ARP and Great Lakes Traditional Sprints Presented by MacAllister CAT have cancelled the race scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd. Saturated grounds paired with continued rainfall and forecasted cold temperatures have led to the decision to cancel the event. The Great Lakes Super Sprints portion of the show will not be rescheduled. Officials are working to find a suitable reschedule date for the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints portion of the show.

Already saturated grounds paired with additional forecasted rain and cold temperatures have led to the decision to cancel the event.

New Year of Hoosier Weekly Championships Begin for DIRTcar Northeast Competitors

Wednesday April 29th..With the calendar turning to May, many of the top weekly competitors across the Northeast will begin their journey to become the best weekend warrior.

Like in 2025, five divisions will take part in the Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championships in 2026, as drivers battle through New York, Vermont, and Canada from now until Labor Day weekend.


Wednesday April 29th..With one points-paying race in the books for the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP, the season rolls on with a huge doubleheader weekend in Buckeye country, and in the land of the Hoosiers. Limaland Motorsports Park is slated to open the 2026 season with GLSS on Friday, May 1st, while Montpelier Speedway welcomes GLSS alongside the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints on Saturday, May 2nd

Wednesday April 29th..The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing launches the month of May with a highly anticipated two-race swing, featuring events at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Friday, May 1, followed by Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky, on Saturday, May 2.

Wednesday April 29th..AMA Pro Racing is saddened to learn of the passing of longtime track builder and flat track supporter Dennis Pearson.

 

Born September 10, 1954, in Indian River, Michigan, Pearson was part of a family deeply rooted in racing. His brothers Scott, Paul, and Gordon were all involved in competition, continuing a family tradition that spanned generations.

California Lightning Sprints Race to Bakersfield for Explosive Round Five Battle

Wednesday April 29th..Progressive American Flat Track, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, has announced that CRESCO CAT Rentals will serve as the entitlement sponsor of the Silver Dollar Short Track, set for May 2 at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California.
