Porsche claims maiden Endurance Cup title with Rutronik Racing as Garage 59 McLaren dominates sensational season finale in Barcelona

• German brand earns Endurance glory thanks to #96 crew of Müller/Niederhauser/Picariello

• Prette/MacDonald/Smalley give McLaren first Endurance win since 2016

• Verstappen.com Racing clinches Gold Cup title

• Silver success for Century Motorsport, Tresor Attempto Racing bags season-closing win

• Rutronik victorious in Bronze as Kessel Racing wraps up another title

Porsche is celebrating its first-ever GT World Challenge powered by AWS title after Rutronik Racing battled through the pack to snatch this year's Endurance Cup crown. The season-closing three-hour race was won by Garage 59, which ended McLaren's nine-year victory drought in commanding fashion.

Dean MacDonald started from pole aboard the #58 McLaren and led the opening phase, setting a string of fastest laps to edge clear of the pack. The path to victory was not simple, however, with a safety car period during the first hour shuffling the order.

Adam Smalley took over for the second stint and ran in third, though the two cars ahead of him were both off strategy. Garage 59 still required another safety car period to extend the final stint, and this came when the #88 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi crashed heavily between Turns 8 and 9.

SUPRA STARS: DAVID AND DURAN DO THE DOUBLE AT BARCELONA

+ Matmut Évolution drivers complete a clean sweep of wins, but only just

+ Mogica brothers dominate Pro-Am, but Safronov and Vaintrub take the title

+ Blickle and Kronberg sign off in style with Am win

Hadrien David and Jan Duran completed a dream weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, taking advantage of a penalty for the rival Elite Motorsport McLaren to secure a double victory.

The #87 Toyota ran at the front throughout and survived a scare at the start before vaulting into the lead when the #78 Artura shared by McKenzy Cresswell and Josh Rattican was handed a time penalty. While that delayed the McLaren, it didn’t end the drama, as Rattican chased back to second and hounded the Toyota across the line.

It proved a day of doubles all round, with Hugo and Thibaut Mogica taking a second Pro-Am win in their CMR Ginetta, and newly crowned Am champions Daniel Blickle and Max Kronberg in full control of the Am contest. While they didn’t’ cap their year with another win, Aleksandr Vaintrub and Stanislav Safronov claimed the Pro-Am title for Mirage Racing.

SILVER: DURAN SOAKS UP THE PRESSURE

It While David and Duran’s second win looks simple on paper, the reality was far from it thanks to a shaky start and intense pressure over the final stint from the Elite McLaren.

Cresswell started the #78 Artura on pole with David alongside and managed to get a good start, a bit too good in fact as the car was later hit with a 10-second penalty for a jump start. David followed Cresswell in, but a snap of oversteer as he rounded the Turn 2 kerb forced a brush with Charlie Hart’s RAFA Racing McLaren, sending it into the gravel. That, combined with a pinch in the pack spitting Cindy Gudet’s Toyota hard into the barriers, brought out the red flags to allow for recovery and repairs.

When racing resumed, Cresswell led from David, the twin Team Speedcar Audis of Robert Consani and Paul Petit, and the Willi Motorsport R8 in the hands of Sergiu Nicolae. With the extra 10 second hanging over him, Cresswell needed to push on to limit the damage and pulled a solid gap over David before making his stop to hand to Rattican late in the pit window. However, it would not be enough to prevent the Toyota blasting into the lead with Duran at the wheel once the stops had been completed.

Nicolae’s great pace helped the Willi Motorsport car up to third by the time he stopped for Tudor Tudurachi, and that became second once Rattican had rejoined after serving the penalty. But Elite wasn’t done yet, and Rattican quickly passed the Audi before taking chunks of time out of Duran up front. A four-second gap became just a few tenths starting the final lap, with Duran holding on by 0.3s at the flag to score the crew’s third win in in the last four races and seal the championship runner-up spot.

An early pitstop again paid off for Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport BMW drivers Gabriele Piana and Berkay Besler, with Besler grabbing the final podium place from Tudurachi late on, while Gregory Guilvert and Benjamin Lariche finished Team Speedcar’s season off in fifth and sixth.

PRO-AM: DOUBLE GLORY FOR GINETTA AND THE MOGICAS

After celebrating their breakthrough class win on Saturday, there was no stopping Thibaut and Hugo Mogica from making it a double on Sunday. The pair led from lights to flag, with Thibaut keeping Branden Oxley in the #16 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG at arm’s length, before Hugo took over and resisted the car’s other driver, Marc de Fulgencio, to the flag.

The day may have belonged to the Mogicas, but the season glory went the way of Aleksandr Vaintrub and Stanislav Safronov, who finished third in their Mirage Racing Aston Martin but were essentially handed the class crown when their only rivals hit trouble at the start. Only the #32 W&S Motorsport Porsche of Joachim Bölting and Hendrik Still could have denied them but Bölting was caught in the chaos at the start and retired, leaving Vaintrub and Safronov unopposed in the points.

Beijing Preview

Street fighters! Seven title contenders gather for Beijing’s downtown showdown

• Reigning champions Yuan and Ye head cast of championship hopefuls

• Silver, Silver-Am and Am titles also up for grabs

• All-new Beijing Street Circuit closes out Asia’s 2025 campaign

• British marque joins Maserati and Mercedes-AMG in backing new driver development scheme

• Winner earns funded seat for 2027 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup

• Ginetta makes GT2 Europe debut this weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with new G56

Ginetta has become the third manufacturer to commit to the SRO GT Academy’s expanded GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli initiative for the 2026 season. It comes on the eve of the British brand’s series debut this weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which will be followed by a full-scale assault next year.

Ginetta joins Maserati and Mercedes-AMG in supporting the SRO GT Academy, which is open to Silver-graded drivers under the age of 30 who compete with one of these brands. The star performer will earn a funded (excluding crash damage) Mercedes-AMG GT3 seat with an AMG Customer Racing Team for the 2027 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup.

The SRO GT Academy will use an assessment-based process to reveal each driver’s true ability and potential, eliminating external factors such as co-driver performance, reliability and luck. This will also ensure that entrants from the Pro-Am class and those competing in the new Silver Cup can be judged equally.

Race results will not be considered. Instead, points will be awarded for the quickest qualifying and race laps, as well as the average time across each driver’s fastest 10 race laps. Points will be deducted when a driver is deemed responsible for an accident by the panel of Stewards, or for losing control of the car off-track.

At present, the initiative will be open to drivers competing with the Ginetta G56 GT2, the Maserati GT2, and the Mercedes-AMG GT2. Additional manufacturers have the opportunity to join the programme ahead of the 2026 season and make their drivers eligible for the prize.

Drivers already competing in GT World Challenge Europe are not eligible to take part.

The SRO GT Academy concept stems from the FFSA French GT Championship where this year’s winner, Gaspard Simon, will receive €150,000 towards a GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup seat next season.

The new Ginetta G56 GT2 makes its global competition debut this weekend under the guidance of French squad CMR, with father-son duo Lawrence and Freddie Tomlinson sharing driving duties. The car boasts a supercharged 6.3-litre V8 developed by the British marque, as well as full carbon fibre bodywork and top-tier components from industry-leading partners. Like all GT2 Europe competitors, it will use Pirelli tyres.

Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta Chairman: “Seeing a Ginetta proudly standing alongside the other factory GT2 marques is a vindication of our ethos. We’ve long championed driver development; now, with SRO recognising GT2 as a gateway to GT3, the Ginetta family has even more purpose in shaping future champions.”

Mike Simpson, Ginetta CEO: “At Ginetta, we believe motorsport should be a ladder and this partnership with SRO’s GT Academy ensures that a young Silver driver can truly travel from any level of motorsport all the way up to GT3. We’re proud to offer the GT2 stage as the next stepping stone in that journey.”

Stéphane Ratel, SRO Motorsports Group Founder & CEO: “I am delighted to share the news that Ginetta will join the SRO GT Academy next year and support the development of future racing talent. We are very excited by the new ladder system that is being put in place and welcome the presence of another major name. Ginetta, Maserati and Mercedes-AMG all bring immense competitive heritage and a history of encouraging young talent. I am excited to see the next generation of GT racers that they will help to unearth.”
