Nicolas Ambiado Wins at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

INDIANAPOLIS (June 15, 2025) – Nicolas Ambiado earned his second Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) win of the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The victory, combined with a fourth-place finish in Round 7 earlier this morning, was enough to propel the Chilean to the championship points lead as the season nears its halfway point. Starting the race on pole, Ambiado’s (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) afternoon was not without challenge. Third-place starter Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) got a great jump off the box, immediately overtaking second-place starter Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), and claiming the lead from Ambiado as the field raced through Turn 1 on the first lap. Using his fresh Hankook racing slicks to his advantage, Ambiado kept the pressure on Bowling, and after riding his gearbox for nearly six minutes, finally drove wide into Turn 1 to carry momentum into the corner and overtake him for the race lead. From there, it was smooth sailing all the way to the checkered flag in a race that stayed green from lights to flag.

As they crossed the Yard of Bricks to take the checkers, Ambiado led the way, with Bowling following in second, and Ribeiro in third. Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) rebounded from an early retirement in Round 7 to finish fourth, while Nicolas Stati (No. 15 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) took fifth.

Notes of Interest:

  • Nicolas Ambiado earned his second win of the 2025 season with a victory in Round 8 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The victory, paired with a fourth-place result in Round 7, moved Ambiado back into the championship lead, with a six-point advantage over Titus Sherlock, who entered the weekend as the leader.

  • After winning Sunday morning’s race, Jett Bowling backed up his performance with a second-place result in Round 8.

  • For the sixth time this season, Bruno Ribeiro finished on the podium, earning a third-place result. Riberio leads all FR Americas competitors in top-three finishes this season.

  • With all three podium finishers flying the Kiwi Motorsport banner, the Dallas-based organization recorded their third podium sweep of the season. The team took all podium positions in both races at the IMS doubleheader.

  • A perfect depiction of the Americas, three nations were represented on this afternoon’s podium, with Ambiado hailing from Chile, Bowling from America, and Ribeiro calling Brazil home.

  • Earning his first-career win and a runner-up finish in today’s two races at IMS, Jett Bowling was awarded the Omologato Perfectly-Timed Move of the Race for an outstanding performance during the Indy SpeedTour weekend. The award includes a bespoke Omologato timepiece.

“I don’t have words,” said Ambiado after climbing from the car. “It’s a dream for me to win at this track—for me, it’s the most important track in the United States. I just need to thank the team, my family and my friends. That was a very hard race; I had to push hard, but with Jett [Bowling] and Bruno [Ribeiro], it was really nice racing my teammates.”

Jett Bowling Earns First-Career FR Americas Win at Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (June 15, 2025) – Jett Bowling earned his first-career Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) win on Sunday morning at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). Returning to the site of his first top-three finish, the ninth time on the podium was finally the charm as the 20-year-old drove to Victory Lane. Starting the race on the outside of the front row, Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) had to battle down the frontstretch with polesitter Brady Golan (No. 80 Attire / Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3) and third-place starter Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), who pulled up to make a three-wide battle into Turn 1. Despite being on the outside, Bowling drove deep into the corner and was able to take control of the race. Never looking back, Bowling held the point position all the way through the checkered flag, enduring a mid-race restart and holding off the challenges of his Kiwi Motorsport teammates.

As they crossed the Yard of Bricks to take the checkered flag, it was Bowling, followed by Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) and Nicolas Stati (No. 15 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3). Ambiado spent much of the race in the second position, but faded in the final laps to cross the bricks fourth, while Alex Benavitz (No. 5 HendrickCars.com / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) completed the top five.

Notes of Interest:

  • Jett Bowling earned his first-career FR Americas win at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A sophomore driver in FR Americas, Bowling earned his first-career podium at IMS last June.

  • Bruno Ribeiro earned his fifth podium in just seven races so far this season. The Brazilian driver climbed through the field from a fifth-place starting position to finish second.

  • Nicolas Stati earned a career-best finish with his third-place result. It was the first-career FR podium for last year’s Formula 4 United States Championship Vice Champion.

  • Brady Golan started the race from the pole for hometown team Toney Driver Development; however, a major lockup in Turn 7 on lap one sent him careening through the grass, before rejoining the race in the 10th position. Golan ultimately finished ninth in Sunday’s morning’s race.

  • Entering the weekend as the championship points leader, Titus Sherlock had a major setback as a mechanical issue left him slowed in Turn 2 on the second lap of the race. Despite running second at the time after climbing from a fourth-place grid position, Sherlock was unable to complete the event and earned no points for this morning’s race.

  • For the second time this season, Kiwi Motorsport swept the podium, with Bowling earning the win, Ribeiro finishing second and Stati taking third.

  • Bijoy Garg finished eighth in his FR Americas debut. The Toney Driver Development entrant competed in 18 F4 U.S. races throughout 2020 and 2021.

“This feels great,” said Bowling. “I just want to say ‘happy birthday’ to my mom; it was my dad's birthday yesterday and today’s Father's Day, so this one's for them. I could spend an hour thanking people, but thank you to Steve, Garry, Teena, Alex—it’s been a long time coming. Thank you to Chris, our tire guy—he owes me 10 miles on the treadmill now. I also want to thank [driver coach] David Brabham; it’s a huge help to have him here with me.  Really, thank you to so many people—I can’t say that enough. I always knew I could, but now, I proved it. God was with me in the car today; that's how I got up here.”

Article: FR Americas Weekend Preview

Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) returns to the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) for Round 3 of its 2025 season. The backdrop for so many iconic races, the Brickyard reigns supreme on many racers’ bucket lists. For the up-and-coming drivers in FR Americas, it’s more than just an event—it’s another step closer to living their dream of one day crossing the famed Yard of Bricks in the Indianapolis 500.

Article: First Race at Indy

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing had been held on Memorial Day Weekend ever since 1911 except for 2020 and the war years when it was cancelled. What even most die-hard Indy fans don’t know is that the first car race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was actually held in mid-August, 1909.

Article: The Founders: Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The rise of the automobile around 1900 was foreshadowed by the worldwide “bicycle boom” of the Gay Nineties. Many of the men who created the automobile industry made their fortunes building bikes. Once bicycle entrepreneurs switched to building cars, they needed a place to test and race them, too. Indeed, Indianapolis Motor Speedway—still the most important automobile race track in North America—was a collaboration between four members of the Zig-Zag Bicycling Club of Indianapolis.
