OH, BUDDY: Michael Kofoid and Roth Motorsports Top Another Thrilling Eagle Nationals for $55,555 Payday with Kubota High Limit Racing

Californians Buddy Kofoid and Corey Day Deliver Intense Battle for Lead Through Lap Traffic

EAGLE, NEB. (June 10, 2025) Don't let the box score fool you - Buddy Kofoid led all 40 laps on Tuesday night at Eagle Raceway, but it was a barnburner from start-to-finish at the place they call "One Badass Race Track."

It was all California, all the time when the 40-lapper started as Penngrove's Buddy Kofoid established early command from the pole position before Clovis' Corey Day circled Grass Valley's Brad Sweet to take the runner-up spot.

From there, the first 28 laps ran unstopped as a cat-and-mouse chase developed with Day following, hounding, and bothering Kofoid through a series of close-calls in lap traffic.

Day was able to always remain in the hunt, throwing a slider for the lead and briefly taking it at one point aboard his Jason Meyers Racing No. 14BC, but Kofoid was able to point the Roth Motorsports No. 83 back by to maintain the top spot.

The first stoppage of the race, for a four-car pileup including the likes of Carson Macedo, Kyle Larson, Chase Randall, and Danny Sams III, came on Lap 28 and set up a thrilling restart with 12 laps left.

The moment of the race quickly followed on Lap 35 when Day, pressuring Kofoid for the $55,555 victory, made one slight bobble down the backstretch and the wall sucked the No. 14BC in, resulting in a wild tumble which ended with him in the fence and the red flag out. The 19-year-old thriller earned roars from a packed crowd at Eagle Raceway when he climbed out unharmed.

The final five-lap dash to the checkered saw Anthony Macri briefly challenge Kofoid on the bottom, but ultimately Buddy pulled away to a 1.135-second victory. The win for Kofoid earned redemption for the World of Outlaws regulars after a pair of High Rollers topped their series events over the weekend in Wisconsin.

No stranger to winning with Kubota High Limit Racing, Buddy Kofoid topped the first-ever event in series history back in August 2022 at Indiana's Lincoln Park Speedway. He's now a two-time winner, though, joining the likes of Rico Abreu, Brad Sweet, Corey Day, Kyle Larson, Tyler Courtney, Aaron Reutzel, Brent Marks, James McFadden, Anthony Macri, David Gravel, Justin Peck, and Trey Starks as a multi-time victor.

The win wasn't the first for the Roth Motorsports organization either, as they enjoyed a trio of trips to Whiskey Myers Victory Lane in 2024 with James McFadden driving. It's their fifth overall win of the 2025 season, to go along with four more from the World of Outlaws.

"The Concrete Kid" Anthony Macri came from 8th-to-2nd to cash a $20,000 runner-up in his family-owned #39M. Within the last week, the Dillsburg, Pennsylvania native has ran 2nd with the World of Outlaws in Wisconsin and now 2nd with Kubota High Limit Racing in Nebraska.

Rounding out the podium, for the sixth time in 2025, was Aaron Reutzel with a $10,000 third-place finish. The Ridge & Sons Racing #87 continues marching up the championship standings with Kubota High Limit Racing, now only 13-points behind Brad Sweet for the points lead.

Closing out the top-five was another pair of High Limit title fighters in Brad Sweet with the Kasey Kahne Racing #49 and Tyler Courtney with the Clauson-Marshall Racing #7BC.

Rounding out the top-10 at Eagle was Tanner Thorson, Kerry Madsen, Giovanni Scelzi, Brenham Crouch, and Spencer Bayston.

141 STUNNER: Wisconsin Native Travis Arenz Beats Kubota High Limit Racing for $26,000 in Rayce Rudeen Foundation Race

Local Hero Sends "The Badger State" Crowd into Pandemonium with Unforgettable Victory

MARIBEL, WISC. (June 5, 2025) It was a night that will long live in Wisconsin Sprint Car Racing lore; where were you when Travis Arenz beat the High Rollers?

Earning the biggest win of his life on Thursday night, Sheboygan, WI native Travis Arenz stunned Kubota High Limit Racing and sent a raucous 141 Speedway crowd into pandemonium. For good measure, he even enjoyed a post-race swim after cashing $26,000 in the Rayce Rudeen Foundation Race - easily the richest payday of his career.

Arenz put himself in position to strike by qualifying second and transferring through his Heat Race to make the FK Rod Ends Dash. Rolling out in fifth for the 35-lap Feature, he fell back as far as seventh before taking advantage of a restart and roaring into third on Lap 10, then quickly into second on Lap 11.

"The Badger State" fans were torn as far as who to cheer for as they watched Arenz chase down fellow Wisconsin resident Bill Balog for the early lead. The winning moment came on Lap 15 as Arenz's #25T rolled right underneath Balog's #17B, which stayed committed to the outside while Arenz refused to leave the bottom.

Arenz went on to survive several restarts en route to crossing the checkered flag with a 1.028-second margin of victory. He's the 17th driver to hit Whiskey Myers Victory Lane in Kubota High Limit Racing history, and the eight different driver through 18 races to claim a Casm Safety Products Win Sticker in 2025.

Saying it was "one of the greatest nights of his life" afterwards, Arenz was swarmed by his home state fans throughout victory lane, teching procedures, and the post-race party at his pit.

Following Arenz and his $26,000 check was Tanner Thorson with a $10,000 runner-up effort. The Rod Gross Motorsports #88 team is on a heater with Kubota High Limit Racing, finishing 4th, then 3rd, and now 2nd over their last three shows.

Rounding out the podium was another Wisconsinite in Bill Balog, who led the opening 14 laps aboard his #17B machine. He'll now prepare for a trio of World of Outlaws events in his home state this weekend.

Closing out the top-10 at 141 was Brent Marks, Scotty Thiel, Daison Pursley, Corey Day, Joel Myers Jr, Kyle Larson, and Aaron Reutzel.

After misfortune for both Brad Sweet and Tyler Courtney on Thursday night, the entire top-five in the Kubota High Limit Racing championship standings are now separated by a jaw-dropping 16-points. It's the Kasey Kahne Racing #49 ahead of the Rico Abreu Racing #24 (-2 PTS), the Murray-Marks Motorsports #19 (-5 PTS), the Clauson-Marshall Racing #7BC (-8 PTS), and the Ridge & Sons Racing #87 (-16 PTS).

MR. MIDWEEK: Abreu Beats Larson in Red Cedar Photo Finish to Remain Undefeated in Roto-Rooter Midweek Series

Rico Stops Kyle by 0.133-Seconds in Fourth-Closest Finish in Kubota High Limit Racing History

MENOMONIE, WISC. (June 4, 2025) It might as well be rebranded Rico's Roto-Rooter Midweek Series considering Abreu's domination of the mini-series in 2025.

The fan-favorite native of St. Helena, California made it three-for-three with the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series on Wednesday night, beating Kyle Larson in a thrilling race that resulted in a photo finish at Menomonie, Wisconsin's Red Cedar Speedway.

Coming from the fourth starting spot, Abreu trailed Kyle Larson and Tanner Thorson in the early running after a dramatic moment saw pole sitter Justin Peck drop out of the race when the green flag waved.

Larson - fresh off a three-week stint pulling double duty between IndyCar and NASCAR - quickly returned to form in Paul Silva's #57 Sprint Car as he controlled the opening 16 laps of Wednesday's 30-lapper.

Abreu came to life at the halfway restart as he swooped by both Larson and Thorson to steal the lead with a slider on Lap 16. From there, he cruised down the closing stretch until lap traffic allowed Larson to catch up and make it tight on the final lap.

In the end, the margin of victory was a narrow 0.133-seconds between Abreu and Larson at the checkered flag - making Red Cedar home to the fourth-closest finish in Kubota High Limit Racing history. In fact, the three Roto-Rooter Midweek Series events in 2025 have provided the third, fourth, and fifth closest finishes in history - with Abreu coming out on the winning end each time.

Larson came home with a runner-up result as Tanner Thorson rounded out the podium in third-place, marking his third-career podium with Kubota High Limit Racing in the Rod Gross Motorsports #88.

Closing out the top-10 at Red Cedar Speedway was Aaron Reutzel, Brad Sweet, Brent Marks, Spencer Bayston, Daison Pursley, Tyler Courtney, and Chase Randall.

BATTLEGROUNDS BANGER: Justin Peck Outlasts Brad Sweet in Sensational Show at Butler Motor Speedway

Kubota High Limit Racing Championship Leader, Brad Sweet, Disqualified for Missing Scales Post-Race

QUINCY, MICH. (May 31, 2025) It was the 2024 Race of the Year with Kubota High Limit Racing, and Butler Motor Speedway may have very well earned the 2025 title again after what they put out on Saturday night.

In a non-stop 30-lap sprint through lap traffic around the Battlegrounds, Justin Peck and Brad Sweet waged war with each other in a wildly entertaining battle in front of a standing-room-only crowd in Quincy, Michigan.

Earning the pole of the Mace Thomas Classic after winning the FK Rod Ends Dash - which came via assistance of the "Ace in the Hole," a 4th-1st Heat win which guarantees the best Dash starting spot - Peck raced to the early lead and hit his first dose of lap traffic on Lap 6.

The leaders continued to play a cat-and-mouse game through traffic as the laps ticked away with the most intense moment coming in the closing laps as Sweet narrowly stole the lead from Peck on Lap 25. They unofficially swapped command more than four times over two laps as they went back-and-forth until Peck's daring move around the outside on Lap 27.

From there, the Rudeen Racing #26 still had to survive a scare on the last lap as Aaron Reutzel emerged out of nowhere and nearly stole the win in similar fashion to Kokomo Speedway.

Ultimately, Peck crossed the line with a 0.588-second margin of victory to earn his second trip to Whiskey Myers Victory Lane this year and his fourth-career win with Kubota High Limit Racing.

Reutzel and the Ridge & Sons Racing #87, fresh off a $100,000 victory at Port Royal's Bob Weikert Memorial, came home with a runner-up effort in his first-ever trip to Butler Motor Speedway.

Brad Sweet, who was scored in third-place at the conclusion of the 30-laps, was disqualified for pulling off the track, out of the officials' sight, and not reporting to the scales post-race. That incident took the Kasey Kahne Racing #49 from a podium result to a DQ and 25th-place finish, officially.

Thus, Rico Abreu was scored on the podium and credited with a third-place finish ahead of Tanner Thorson in fourth and Tyler Courtney in fifth.

Closing out the top-10 was Brent Marks, Zane DeVault, Sye Lynch, Kasey Jedrzekek, and Brenham Crouch.

All previously purchased tickets will remain valid for Thursday's makeup date at 141 Speedway. New ticket buyers are able to get their seats by clicking here. Remember, every pre-sale ticket purchase enters you to be selected for the DURST Dice Roll.

Before Kubota High Limit Racing returns to 141 in Maribel, WI on Thursday, a date at Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, WI comes first on Wednesday night. Both events will fall under the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series banner with invaders like Kyle Larson, Corey Day, and Anthony Macri, among others, trying to steal the cash.

Heading into this week, the Kubota High Limit Racing championship chase is one of the most tightly contested in the history of the sport. Currently, Tyler Courtney leads Brad Sweet (-6), Rico Abreu (-30), Brent Marks (-35), Aaron Reutzel (-38), and Justin Peck (-68) with the top-six contenders separated by a mere 68-points.

As always, every lap of the action will be streamed on FloRacing, the exclusive streaming partner of Kubota High Limit Racing. For more information and to subscribe to FloRacing, go to www.floracing.com/highlimit.

SO CAL LIGHTNING SPRINTS

“Shugah” Shane Sexton Bests SoCal Lightning Sprint Cars at Barona

El Cajon, CA —
“Shugah” Shane Sexton made a triumphant return to action with the SoCal Lightning Sprint Car Series (SCLS), dominating from start to finish in the 20-lap main event last Saturday night at Barona Speedway. It was his first SCLS appearance of 2025 and capped a strong recent run that includes a win and two second-place finishes in his last three series starts dating back to 2024.

The A main lineup featured San Diego’s Landon Dalton on the pole, with Sexton, from Warner Springs, starting alongside. Lakeside’s David Taft and Alpine’s Peter Benker filled row two, followed by Ramona’s Darren Brent and young gun Cody Benker in row three. Row four included Michael Tobiason (Ramona) and Jason Arnolde (San Diego), while El Cajon’s Kelly Weitzel and Alpine’s Tyler Warner lined up in row five.

When the green flag flew, Sexton surged to the early lead, setting a blistering pace and was being chased by Taft, Peter Benker and Dalton at the end of the opening circuit. He stretched his advantage to eight car lengths by lap two, a half-straight by lap six, and began navigating lapped traffic by the eighth circuit.

While Sexton built his lead, Taft and Peter Benker waged a fierce battle for second. Benker repeatedly pressured Taft in the first half of the race, but Taft—who won an SCLS main at Barona exactly a year ago—fended him off each time.

The race was briefly halted at the halfway point when Warner pulled to the infield, leaving a trail of oil and debris in turns three and four. After the cleanup, Sexton led the restart with Taft, Peter Benker, Dalton, and Cody Benker in hot pursuit.

Once racing resumed, Peter Benker continued his relentless pressure on Taft, diving low in turn one, but Taft refused to give up the spot. At the front, Sexton began pulling away again—until lap 12, when Taft mounted a serious challenge, narrowing the gap and attempting to poke his nose ahead in turn one.  However, Sexton was equal to the challenge and maintained his lofty position at the front of the pack.

The pressure continued when Taft came calling again on lap 16, but hopes of a late-race duel ended on lap 19. Exiting turn two, Taft drifted high and brushed the wall. Though he continued, the slip allowed Sexton to break away and cruise to the victory, leading all 20 laps.

At the checkered flag, it was Sexton, in the Gas Chassis/Mike Pridgeon Race Engines/Savage Racing/Elite Powder Coating/2020 GSXR 1000 #74, with a comfortable margin over Taft. Peter Benker, Dalton, and Cody Benker completed the top five. Arnolde advanced from eighth to sixth and was named the race’s Hard Charger.

“We were worried the car would not handle with the new power,” the happy winner said. “When we had the old motor in it, I don’t know if it was a lack of power or what, but it would not get sideways.  It was just like driving a pavement car.  I never had to lift at any point of the night.  We were worried with the new power, it would not drive as well, and it actually drove better.”

Before the main, the SCLS contested two eight-lap heats.  Peter Benker captured the first heat ahead of Brent and Cody Benker. Taft won the second heat over Dalton and Sexton.

The race for the championship is a family affair up front.  Father and son Peter and Cody Benker occupy the top two spots, with Peter holding a 12-point lead over his offspring.  Dalton is third, only 20 points out of first.  Dalton is fourth, and Arnolde, a past Rookie of the Year in the California Lightning Sprint Car Series, is fifth.

The SoCal Lightning Sprint Car Series returns to Barona on July 19. That event will serve as a key warm-up for the SoCal Summer Showdown set for August 1–2.

The SoCal Lightning Sprints Return to Barona Speedway This Saturday Night

El Cajon, CA — The SoCal Lightning Sprint Car Series (SCLS) returns to Barona Speedway this Saturday night, June 7th, for the second points race of its 2025 campaign. Gates open at 2:00 p.m., with racing getting underway at 6:00.

Following an action-packed season opener on May 10th at Barona, California Highway Patrol officer and main event winner Jeff Dyer of Yucca Valley leads the championship standings. Just six points behind is Parker Dumas of San Diego, who kicked off the year by winning both of the non-point races during the California Mid-Winter Fair at the Imperial Valley Raceway. The Alpine-based father and son duo of Peter, and Cody Benker are tied for third place, 12 points out of the lead. El Cajon’s own Deejay Dumas, brother of Parker, rounds out the top five.

In the Barona season opener, Dyer charged from sixth to win the 20-lap main event—but it wasn’t easy. He spent 15 laps reeling in early leader Parker Dumas, who had taken the top spot from Cody Benker on lap two. Once Dyer made the decisive pass, he stretched his advantage and drove to his first career victory on the San Diego County quarter-mile oval. That May race was also the first of three non-winged events on the SCLS calendar for 2025.

This Saturday’s “Battle at Barona” will see the series return to its traditional winged format, with cars once again resembling those seen in the World of Outlaws series.

After this weekend’s event, the SCLS takes a six-week break before returning to Barona on July 19th. Then comes the club’s busiest month of the year: August. On August 1st and 2nd, the Lightning Sprints join the Dwarf Car Nationals at Barona. Two weeks later at Barona, on August 16th, the wings come off once more for the second non-wing race of the season.

Also on Saturday’s program are the MCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Compacts, Dwarf Cars, Pure Stocks, Mini Dwarfs, and Junior Sprints.
