The
ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division
becomes the
Sunoco National Tour.
By ASA Late Model Series
Lexington, Michigan (Monday, March 8, 2010): The
ASA Late Model Series has prided itself as
"America's Premiere Short Track Racing" over the
past seven seasons. From the days of the
original USPRO Cup Series in 2003 up to the
upcoming 2010 racing season, the premiere
template bodied / crate motored series in
country have been the innovators in short track
racing.
As the 2010 campaign approaches, the ASALMS
Challenge Division is moving forward and taking
that next innovative step in the short track
racing industry with the all-new
Chevrolet Camaro and
Ford Mustang bodies, combined with the
revolutionary LS3
Crate Engines. With all the buzz
surrounding the upcoming season, a title sponsor
was only a matter of time for the Lexington,
Michigan based series and that time is now!
Sunoco Race Fuels, which was recently announced
as the Official Fuel of the series and has been
the official fuel of
NASCAR since the 2004 racing season, is
stepping up in a huge way for the ASA Late Model
Series for the 2010 racing season and beyond;
For the foreseeable future, the ASA Late Model
Series Challenge Division will now be known as
the Sunoco National Tour as Sunoco Race Fuels
and the ASA Late Model Series have come to terms
on a contract for Sunoco to become the title
sponsor of what was known as the Challenge
Division. The ASA Late Model Series Northern
Division will see a slight change in it's' name
as it
has been shortened to the ASA Late Model Series.
"This is a monumental day in the history of the
series," an excited Ron Varney, Founder /
President of the Sunoco National Tour and ASA
Late Model Series exclaimed. "Today will vault
both series' into a new level of prestige. All
of the hard work this series has done and all
that the series has gone through, both good and
bad, over its tenure was all worthwhile with
this wonderful announcement."
"On behalf of our employees, distributors and
retailers, Sunoco is proud to announce our
partnership with the ASA Late Model Series and
the designation of the Sunoco National Touring
Series." Added Dawn Zimmerman, Director of
Regional Marketing / Motorsports for Sunoco.
"We look forward to being affiliated with
great racing in a region where we
maintain significant retail presence." She
ended.
Recently it was announced that Sunoco would be
the "Official Fuel" of the ASA Late Model
Series, they're also the "spec" fuel and a
Sunoco distributor will be on hand at every
event in 2010 in both the Sunoco National Tour
and the ASA Late Model Series to ensure that
each team will have the fuel they need to get to
victory lane.
"The Sunoco National Tour is a new Series from
the ground up, we took a look at everything and
changed what we felt was needed. This a new
company and new beginning. This will be a year
long re-branding effort, with the new cars and
the new name, we're excited and can't wait for
the season to begin" finished Varney.
The Sunoco National Tour will open the 2010
racing season, the eighth year overall for the
Lexington, Michigan based series, on Friday and
Saturday, March 26-27th down at
New Smyrna Speedway, the historic
1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval
located Southwest of Daytona Beach in Samsula,
Florida for the running of the Florida 200.
Support Divisions are "To Be Announced."
The ASA Late Model Series will kick off their
2010 campaign, the fifth anniversary of the
Northern Series, on Friday and Saturday, April
16-17th with the running of the Glass Breaker
100 at the 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved

"The car looked great out there and I really
appreciate Justin Marks and Bryan Ortiz for
coming out and shaking down the car for us
throughout the weekend," Ron Varney, President
of the Sunoco National Tour said. "It was really
neat to go down to
North Wilkesboro and see everything. You
can just feel the history at that place." He
added.
In addition, Pat Zorn, a former competitor in
the USPRO Cup Series during the 2008 racing
season, was on hand testing his machine as well.

Division). The St. Clair, Michigan driver will
be competing in the ASA Late Model Series in
